Who benefits from the rain delay?

Posted on 26 October 2006 by Justin Phillips

Last night’s game 4 of the World Series was rained out and the early indications appear that the Cardinals benefit the most from this.

Tigers Manager Jim Leyland wants Rogers to pitch at home and so will leave him starting Game 6 while Cards Manager Tony LaRussa could bump Jeff Weaver up to start game 5 in place of the rookie, Anthony Reyes. Unfortunately for the Tigers they have been unable to hit any of the Cards pitchers, but ironically have fared the best against Weaver, scoring their series high 3 runs against him. So maybe the advantage really goes to the Tigers who have history on their side as they took the next 3 games from the Yankees (clinching an ALCS berth) the last time they had a series delayed by rain.
